Seminar on Pathology in Pregnancy
On 17 April, Hospital de Barcelona hosted the 4th Seminar on Pathology in Pregnancy: intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and assisted reproduction. The Internal Medicine and Neonatal departments at the hospital, in collaboration with Assistència Sanitària, organised a session attended by more than 120 obstetricians, midwives, paediatricians, neonatal and internal medicine specialists and physicians from other related specialist fields, along with nurses from the maternal and infant departments.
While the first section brought together a number of addresses dealing with aspects connected with IUGR, the novel feature this year came in the second part of the seminar, with a format based on two masterclasses: the first delivered by the specialist in pre-implantation genetic diagnosis Santiago Munné, and the latter courtesy of the holder of the UNESCO Chair of Bioethics, María Casado, two experts of established international standing.
Together with initiatives such as the creation of the Grávida assisted reproduction centre, the implementation of a paediatric ER at Hospital de Barcelona, technological investments at the Neonatal Unit and the new High-Risk Pregnancy Unit, this fourth seminar on pathology in pregnancy demonstrates the commitment of Assistència Sanitària to providing medical care of the highest quality in the maternal and infant fields.
