Now in its thirteenth edition, this annual report has established itself as the essential tool for measuring the economic weight and social impact of the world's largest cooperatives.

This year's publication is a special edition commemorating the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, proclaimed by the United Nations. The most notable data in the report reveal the enormous resilience of the sector: the world's 300 largest cooperatives have a combined turnover of $2.789 trillion, an increase over the previous edition that demonstrates the vitality of this business model in the face of global challenges.

At the sectoral level, Brazil's Unimed reaffirms its position as the undisputed leader in the global healthcare sector, standing out in particular for its high ratio of turnover to GDP per capita in its country.

The Espriu Foundation, an international benchmark

The Espriu Foundation once again features prominently in the report. In the healthcare sector ranking, the institution consolidates its third place worldwide in terms of turnover, maintaining the leadership it achieved in previous years. In the overall ranking of the 300 largest cooperatives in the world (Top 300), the Espriu Foundation is in 234th place, reaffirming its position as an international benchmark for the Spanish social economy.

The 2025 edition includes a special article with interviews with leading figures in the movement. Carlos Zarco, Director General of the Espriu Foundation and President of the IHCO, contributes to this section by highlighting the crucial role of health cooperatives. According to Zarco, these organisations are key to advancing towards universal health coverage, demonstrating that the cooperative model is not only competitive, but also the best driver for promoting social development and community well-being.
