With solo leadership sustained over 10 years, Catalan medical colleges have chosen Assistència Sanitària as the best health insurance entity, company, or mutual society. The 2025 edition of the Private Medicine Professionals Survey by the Council of Medical Colleges of Catalonia (CCMC) confirms, once again, the state of a rapidly evolving sector facing significant structural challenges. Among the most relevant findings, the professionals' assessment of insurance entities stands out—a sensitive indicator showing notable differences between organizations.
In this section, Assistència Sanitària returns to the top position, maintaining a continuous streak of leadership that now spans ten consecutive years. The result underscores physicians' trust in the entity’s relationship model, a factor that has become a key differentiator in an environment perceived as increasingly demanding.
A Comprehensive Survey
The survey, based on responses from 1,271 physicians practicing privately in Catalonia, paints a picture where professionals especially value the autonomy, flexibility, and work-life balance offered by private practice, while simultaneously denouncing unfair compensation.
In this context, the ranking of entities takes on special significance. According to the CCMC, only two of the sixteen analyzed entities achieved a "notable" (high) score. Assistència Sanitària, which tops the table with a score of 7.48 and has held the first position in every edition of the survey, solidifies its status as the most highly-valued entity by the medical community. Professionals highlighted aspects such as request management, clarity of information, and the perception of a closer, more consistent relationship with clinical practice. According to the CCMC, these factors contribute to better care and a climate of trust in a sector where this element is vital.
The survey also reflects deep structural changes in private medicine, including an increase in female representation, a decline in the private practice/clinic model, and a growing concentration of activity in centers linked to hospital groups or insurers. Given this scenario, professionals are calling for improvements in pay, technology, training, and transparency, as well as a more fluid relationship with entities and a review of "low-cost" policies. Amidst this transformation, Assistència Sanitària’s continued leadership at the top of the ranking holds significant value, as doctors perceive it as a benchmark of stability and consistency aligned with quality of care.
