HLA Vistahermosa Hospital has inaugurated its Robotic Surgery Unit with the launch of the Da Vinci robotic platform, the first surgical robot in the private healthcare sector in the city of Alicante. This tool, the most modern and advanced for performing surgical procedures, is now fully operational.
HLA Vistahermosa offers its patients the widest possible access to this technology through its Robotic Surgery Unit, which is made up of specialists accredited to use this technology. The unit has specialists in digestive tract surgery, urology and thoracic surgery, coordinated by surgeons Dr Emilio Ruiz de la Cuesta, Dr Cándido Alcázar and Dr Mariano Franco, together with urologist Dr Carla Pérez. This multidisciplinary team enables the hospital to offer access to robotic surgery techniques to a large number of patients with different pathologies.
Patients operated on with the Da Vinci system benefit most from the use of this technology, as robotic surgery reduces incisions and intraoperative bleeding, meaning that transfusions are less frequent. In addition, pain and the risk of infection are reduced in the post-operative phase. Similarly, both the stay in the post-surgical intensive care units and the total hospital stay are reduced by up to 40% compared to conventional surgery, allowing patients to return to their normal lives much more quickly.
HLA Group experience
The implementation of the Da Vinci robot has significantly expanded the surgical capacity of HLA Vistahermosa Hospital, which can now perform the most complex surgeries with technology that guarantees greater precision and safety, placing the HLA Group at the forefront of Spanish surgical services. The Group now has three Da Vinci robots installed at HLA Universitario Moncloa (Madrid), HLA Universitario El Ángel (Málaga) and HLA Vistahermosa.
