The B20 recommends cooperative companies in the health sector
The health & life sciences task force proposes to take advantage of the cooperative business model as a reliable organisational tool that protects professionals and strengthens health systems.
The B20 summit, the forum of the business community made up of nearly 1,000 corporate executives from the G20 countries, was held in Rome on 7 and 8 October. At the meeting, which was attended by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, recommendations were presented to deal with the priorities set by the current Italian presidency, which will later be discussed by the G20 leaders.
The B20 Health and Life Science Task Force, in which the Espriu Foundation participates, included among its health policy recommendations «to harness the potential of the cooperative business model, which is a reliable organizational tool that protects healthcare workers, strengthens Health Systems, and contributes to achieving Universal Health Coverage, especially in mid and low-income countries.»
The Task Force made this recommendation in the area of Value-Based Healthcare, which aims to create more efficient and sustainable healthcare systems that provide real value to patients. The B20 is committed to governance models that implement and reward healthcare quality standards and place the patient at the centre of healthcare, as do healthcare cooperatives.
